Our lives are poisoned by a variety of diseases. One of them is osteoarthritis of the knee joint. This disease is most often manifested in women, mainly after forty years. Very often the disease spoils the life of overweight people due to the increased load on the joints. But the disease can affect the body not only in mature age. Very often it develops in young athletes, as well as after injuries, which is why it is often confused with other diseases of the knee. To make sure that you develop osteoarthritis of the knee, you need to identify the presence of certain symptoms.
symptoms
Osteoarthritis of the knee joint is called gonarthrosis. There are three stages of gonarthrosis, each of which is characterized primarily by increasing pain.
The diagnosis can be determined by the signs characteristic of the first stage:
- slight pain in the knee when walking;
- increased pain when descending or climbing stairs;
- severe pains in the morning after rest, which decrease with time;
- swelling of the knees, in severe cases synovitis is observed - the accumulation of fluid in the joint bag, which subsequently fills the space behind the knee.
It is also worth noting that severe pain does not appear out of the blue. They are preceded by a long period (usually several months) of mild pain in the knees.
The second stage of arthrosis of the knee joint, in addition to increasing pain, is characterized by a painful crunch and the inability to bend or bend the leg normally.
In the third stage, the pain becomes even worse, so now it is not even possible to fall asleep. Now the knee can only be bent to an angle of 90 degrees and it is very difficult to find a position where it does not hurt. In the affected joint, blood circulation is disturbed and its deformation also begins.
Osteoarthritis of the knee joint in the third stage of development is quite difficult to treat. Therefore, when the first symptoms and signs are recognized, it is necessary to immediately look for ways to put the joints in order.
